Yr 12 Magdalen Farm Geography Residential

To close the month of June, the Geography department organised a residential trip to Magdalen Farm in Somerset; however, this trip was primarily situated in Dorset for coastal fieldwork at Shell Bay and Chesil Beach. This was in preparation for the students who wish to write up a Physical Geography NEA.

The first day consisted of sand dune data collection at Shell Bay, and after about two hours drive, we arrived at the Magdalen Farm Centre. The second day reached temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius, which limited our coastal data collection to only ⅔ sites along Chesil Beach.

After beach profiling for both days, the evenings consisted of data collation and analysis. Overall, despite the intense heat that persisted throughout the three days, this field trip remains memorable, especially through the picturesque greenery that surrounds the Magdalen Farm.
