Attendance
Ensuring good attendance to school is paramount in helping students to achieve their potential and supporting good overall wellbeing. Getting students to school on time every day is the single most important action families can take to ensure the best possible education for their child.
Regular attendance at school is vital. Without it the learning process becomes fragmented and unsatisfactory; put simply; absence means missed learning. It is also a legal requirement that pupils of a compulsory school age receive full time education and this, with the exception of those educated at home or elsewhere, means regular attendance at school. The vast majority of our students achieve 100% attendance and this is what we expect from all our students.
If attendance is an issue we will work with families to identify the reasons for poor attendance and try to resolve any difficulties. Every opportunity will be used to convey to students and their parents or carers the importance and benefits of regular and punctual attendance.
Should a child be too ill to attend school parents/guardians should advise the school as soon as possible and by 09:00 at the latest by telephone (01494 787528) or email attendance@challoners.org.
If your child is in the Sixth Form, please contact us by telephone (01494 787569) or email (sixth-form@challoners.org) by 09:00.
Please contact us on each day that a student is absent.
Arrival after the close of registration, without a valid reason, is an unauthorised absence in accordance with Government guidance.
Any leave requests for holiday during term time will not be authorised.
