Year 7 Author Event - Chris Bradford
In November, Year 7 students congregated in the Milton Library to hear from Chris Bradford, the world-bestselling author of The Bodyguard and Young Samurai series, about what writing means to him.
It was a thrilling, action-packed event covering 14-year-old Connor Reeves’ adventures in the bodyguard world, and what may be to come in the next instalments of the series.
Being a man of integrity, Bradford completed real bodyguard training to enhance the realism of his series, which he then demonstrated to us, getting volunteers up on stage to simulate how bodyguards perceive and react to different environments. It was a thought-provoking and engaging demonstration; it felt as if we were all involved in some way, even if we weren't the ones on stage.
As it was my first author event at DCGS, it was an incredible experience to learn all the things about bodyguarding that I never knew. The high point of the event was undoubtedly when he showed us a special move, sending a Pearson student flying (onto a crash mat!) - we couldn’t believe our eyes - he had only given him a little push! Overall, an amazing experience and a highlight of the first term.
