Tate Modern Visit

The visit to the Tate Modern Gallery, which saw art students preparing for an involved yet enjoyable GCSE course, was very inspirational for students and teachers alike. Whilst we saw many paintings, we also saw other forms of art, such as sculptures. This demonstrated to us that art could be a painting, a sculpture, a photograph or even an instrument! I learnt how different media could be used on different materials, as opposed to just paint on canvas. 

We saw four galleries throughout our day. They consisted of ‘in the Studio’, ‘Media Networks’, ‘Materials and Objects’ and ‘Frida Kahlo’. The first one was mainly paintings, whilst the second one was about technology and how artists responded to it. The third was about materials and sculptures, which were all made of a variety of things, such as metal, wood and cardboard. The fourth was about an artist called Frida Kahlo, a renowned Mexican artist, who painted self-portraits portraying her suffering due to an accident.

To finish the day, I saw pictures from a variety of different artists such as Picasso, Braque, Morandi, Zahedi and others. I really enjoyed the visit to the Tate Gallery. Thank you to all the staff who made this trip possible!
