GCSE Art Trip to Tate Britain

Picture the perfect cultural day out: art, music, imposing, life-like statues gazing on their spectators. Well, merge these into one building and you have Tate Britain, visited by aspiring artists at GCSE and A-level! The trip was full of good fun and there was simply so much to see and do. We started off by getting the underground line to Pimlico, London, traipsing along enormous white-washed properties towards the Tate. It’s a huge building and the entrance is quite intimidating; but the group went through unphased!

We first went to a walk-in exhibition: ancient walls spewed with lavish artwork floor-to-ceiling where we could roam around, picking out our favourite artworks to sketch and zoom in on. Some artworks weren’t the norm, including statues, lights and music to invoke a response. We had lunch in the bright sun amongst the greenery before heading back into the gallery.

Our special exhibition was on Do Ho Suh, a Korean artist who had a unique 3d style ld art. There were engaging videos and interactive walkthroughs of his work.

Thank you to the organisers and teachers who came along!
