A number in standard form is a number from 1 to 9 multiplied by a power of 10.

So, \( 1.3 \times 10^2 \) and \( 3.72 \times 10^{-3} \) are in standard form,
but \( 13 \times 10^3 \) and \( 0.26 \times 10^{-3} \) are not.
