Our 400th Anniversary Celebrations

We are celebrating our 400th Anniversary in 2024 and we want you to know all about it! It's a special year so here are a few 2024 dates for your diary. We would be delighted for the whole community to join with us in our celebrations.

5 March - St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle

Robert Chaloner had strong links with St George’s Chapel. He was Canon of the Twelfth Stall at St George's Chapel, Windsor from 1589 to 1621. We are holding a 400 Year Anniversary Service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, at 15:00 on Tuesday 5 March 2024. There are limited places available for the whole school community. 21-23 March - Junior Musical - Oliver!

The musical is based upon the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. This promises to be another fantastic performance, showcasing our talented students. Further details to follow.

15 June - The Friends of DCGS Celebratory Ball

In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Dr Challoner’s Grammar School, the Friends of DCGS are hosting a ball on Saturday 15th June 2024. Please join us to celebrate in style! Further details of the event, including Frequently Asked Questions, can be found here.

20 June - MCC Match

The annual MCC v First XI Cricket Match is being held on Thursday 20 June, 11.30-18.00 at the school. This is a particular highlight of our sporting calendar as our 1st XI take on members of the world-famous Marylebone Cricket Club.

25 June - Junior Concert

Our Junior Concert this year will be a celebration of the talents of our younger musicians. More details will follow.

11-13 July - Summer Play

We have a long history of fantastic drama productions and our Summer Play this year will incorporate stories from the 400 Year Anniversary book; from Robert Chaloner to the present day. Further details to follow.

17 July - Founder's Day

Our annual Founder's Day Service will be held at St Mary's Church, Old Amersham. We will be a celebrating our anniversary with readings and music. Further details to follow.

28 September - Community Festival

Help us mark our milestone anniversary with this fun outdoor event open to the whole community. There will be stalls, entertainments and refreshments galore. Further details to follow.

1 November - Celebration of Sports Dinner

A celebration of the school's sporting history, our Sports Dinner will be held at a particularly special venue; The Long Room in the Pavilion at Lord's Cricket Ground. Further details to follow.

11 December - Carol Service

Our annual Carol Service will be held at St Mary's Church, Old Amersham. This will be a celebration of readings and music and will be a wonderful event to finish our anniversary year. Further details to follow.
