I am Muslim

I am Muslim;

I am getting forced out of my home in Syria.

I am Muslim;

I am forced to eat pork and drink alcohol in China.

I am Muslim;

I am losing my land in Palestine.

I am Muslim;

I am getting killed in Kashmir.

I am Muslim;

I am starving in Yemen.

I am Muslim;

I am getting my headscarf ripped off in France.

I am Muslim;

I am getting bullied and picked on for being different.

I am Muslim;

Yet I am the one who is being called the terrorist?

Lockdown

Tap tap tap, I’m struggling cos I can’t focus.

Everyone else gets away with it, lucky with their diagnosis.

My brain might just detonate with these thoughts; it’s overloaded.

No wonder I can’t focus...

His eyesight’s gone blurry, can’t stop zoning out and zoning in.

He’s all alone on that part; it’s only him,

Wanting to just get it done, not to be the stray rat,

Taking the knowledge in though acknowledging the words they spat...

The bell rings, now there’s less pressure.

He can leave the classroom into the air that feels fresher.

He can stop on his endeavour,

Have a bit of time to clear his head…

Life

Whether it’s in the roads

Or it’s in the reeds,

Some days the sky rains

Like when autumn falls with leaves.

Life is like a video game:

The journey of Sims.

The ivy grows

Whilst life progresses after our sins.

Life is a gift but you have to put in some graft,

Because problems will come and they’ll escalate real fast.

Like, let’s go turn around and look at last March,

We were celebrating two weeks off school at last.

Three days later we go and find out,

There’s gonna be no more going out of the house.

In only two days our year is on the way down,

After entering a new national lockdown.

We thought we’d be free by summer

That everything would be done.

Now we all look utter mugs,

Cos we’re in a third lockdown in 2021.

One day after COVID we’ll feel a sense of sanity.

We finally feel like we have some sort of clarity.

Restrictions on us have taken over, put our lives at a halt.

There’s been no school or meet ups as a result.

But people don’t listen,

So many people don’t seem to take this seriously;

Death is what comes from them taking a lack of responsibility.

So grow up and stop being an insensitive mug

As you’ll only start to care if it comes to someone that you love.

So next time you think it’s smart to break the rules and go out,

Think of who it affects and what this is all about.

Epidemic

I’m so sick of farewells and R-I-P’s.

People are dying from this disease.

I just wanna take my mask off and breathe.

I hate coronavirus. It’s a thief.

I want lock down to end so I can leave.

It feels like it’s made time freeze.

I’m so sick of farewells and R-I-P’s.

People are dying from this disease.

I just wanna take my mask off and breathe.

It’s taken apart our society with ease.

It’s ripped us apart. Now we bleed.

It's all over the news; don’t believe me? Have a read.

I’m so sick of farewells and R-I-P’s.

People are dying from this disease.

I just wanna take my mask off and breathe.

All of this just feels so wrong.

So many people were with us. Now they’re gone.

Yet with our lives we go on.

I’m so sick of farewells and R-I-P’s.

People are dying from this disease.

I just wanna take my mask off and breathe.

I just wanna take my mask off and breathe...
