6th October 2009
The Geography House Orienteering competitions, held in cool but bright conditions on October 1st and 2nd, were events of speed, precision, skill and passion! Six students from each house competed and quickly discovered that teamwork was essential to ensure all the activities were completed in the time allocated.
The event followed two separate routes, Urban, around the school grounds and Cuds (military term for ‘the wilds’) that took them out and about on the playing fields. Points were awarded on each route for answering questions and completing activities, and then deducted for time faults. In Year 7, Newman, Rayner and Foxell did exceptionally well and finished in that order. The next day, the Year 8 Rayner team took a very narrow win from Holman, with Foxell, Pearson and Thorne all tying for third.
Thanks again to the students for their enthusiasm, House Captains for their support in marshalling and to Miss Robin for taking charge of the timekeeping.
