At the end of the autumn term DCGS welcomed the arrival of 12 girls from Lycée Lacordaire in Marseille for the senior French exchange. Excitement and anticipation were the overwhelming emotions for both sets of students prior to being introduced to their exchange partners, with whom they would spend the next 10 days.
The purpose of the exchange was to not only enhance the students’ language ability for their French A-level course, but also to provide an opportunity for them to utilise their speaking skills in a work environment. The French students all undertook work experience locally as well as on the school’s site, with some of the girls working at Café Africa in the Sixth Form centre.
Having said their goodbyes at the beginning of autumn half term, the students are eager to embark on the return leg of the exchange, which will see them travel to Marseille in the Easter holiday.
