Writing: Rowan McGirr (Year 8)
The school marked World Book Day this Thursday with a book exchange organised by 8 Newman. The Loarridge Centre was full of books of different genres, and a variety of interesting and well-known authors. Over 150 books were exchanged in the hope of expanding students' reading and widen their interest in different books. And it wasn’t just students: teachers also exchanged their top reads with students and other staff!
Students were often immediately happy with what they chose, discovering new and lovable books and series, whether they were dramatic, emotional or funny. Several students commented that they would like this exchange to happen again in the future. Each student also received a National Book Token entitling them to a £1 discount to buy whatever book they wanted to, in the spirit of expanding students' interest in books.
