Every year, Buckingham Palace hosts a DofE Gold Award presentation for participants who have completed their Gold Award in the past year or so. Every year…except the last couple of years, for obvious reasons. As a result, there are a huge number of young people around the country who have not had royal recognition of their achievement in completing their Gold Award.

Making up for lost time, a celebration event was held in the gardens of the palace on Monday 16th May. Around a dozen DCGS alumni attended the event, most of whom had sat their A levels a couple of years ago. There were over 7000 Gold Award holders, and each one had invited a guest. The event was presided over by Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex who met many of those present.

It was a relaxed affair in a beautiful location under sunny and dry skies. Our alumni were able to celebrate their success in the company of their guests, and hear inspiring talks from adventurers and entrepreneurs. Addresses from other speakers reminded us all that the positive attitude, which is essential to DofE Gold success, can help you overcome any difficulty and take you anywhere.
