This week saw an impromptu burst of fundraising from Years 7 to 9. Raising money for the mental health charity YoungMinds, the week opened with 7 Pearson's 'Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar' competition and lemonade stand, which ran every lunch time during the week and raised over £200. Every member of 7P got involved, running the stall and producing litre upon litre of fresh, homemade lemonade each day - which proved unsurprisingly popular in the recent heat.

As the week progressed, other stalls and competitions began popping up, culminating in Friday lunch time when the school effectively held a miniature carnival all around site, including a funfair on the field from 7 Holman, a cracker-eating competition from 8 Newman, and 7 Foxell's splat the teacher game. This, of course, attracted a huge crowd - which went wild when the respected and feared Mr Keen stepped into the ring - and raised almost £200 in a single hour.

YoungMinds is a UK charity that champions the wellbeing and mental health of children across the country, working with schools, parents and the government to support young people through difficult times and give them the skills they need to be happy and healthy. Their aims tie in with the school's own drive to put mental health at the forefront of our agenda. We are proud to be able to support YoungMinds through this fundraising, as we continue to work to support the wellbeing of our students.

This week's fundraising has been the precursor to an upcoming charity walk, organised by Miss West and being undertaken by 10 staff and students on the 1st July. If you would like to donate to this cause you can do so by following the link below, and we will report back on the walk in a couple of weeks.
