The golf tour started on Sunday 27th May when the group travelled to Wentworth for the final days play at the BMW Championships. Students got to see some of Europe's finest golfers as well as getting a tour of the Mizuno workshop. They were also given exclusive access to the BBC broadcasting studio, where they watched Ken Brown and Peter Alliss commentate live to the nation.
The tour continued on to Bournemouth for four days of golf in the sun, giving the students the chance to experience different golf courses with varying formats such as stroke play, stapleford and even a Ryder cup competition.
Overall the students improved their golf ability over the course of the visit, with one student, Elliot Wills scoring a 1 under par 69 at Canford Magna Golf Club.
For the second consecutive year in activities week, a group of 43 year students set off for Zell am See in Austria. The week introduced students to water activities such as windsurfing, kayaking and sailing, along with mountain biking and canyoning. The students were able to demonstrate their progression as they attempted many of them several times. They were also able to try the high ropes course where they had to climb, crawl and fly across the Austrian tree tops.
Canyoning and White Water River Rafting were highlights for all as they pushed everyone out of their comfort zone and challenged them in a number of different ways, which they responded very positively to. Canyoning forced everyone to climb, swim and jump their way down a gorge just outside of Salzburg, including 6 and 7 meter jumps. White water river rafting tested their ability to work as a team, as rafts made their way down grade 3 rapids.
An 18mile Mountain Bike ride in the Austrian Alps further tested the groups perserverancer as they made their way up towards the top of the high hills before flying down after the hard incline. In order to experience an element of culture whilst in Austria they visited Salzburg. The visit was a great success with students forging different friendships and experiencing new activities.
