Sport at Dr Challoner's continues to go from strength to strength, mainly down to the dedication and commitment of both students and the coaching teams. Every student who has trained and represented the school, District and County deserves to be congratulated for their efforts.
In Athletics there have been 60 athletes competing for the school across all age ranges from year 7 to year 13, as well as many more continuing to improve through training and in their PE lessons. The season, as always, came to an exciting climax with the District Championships. This annual event, held at Hillingdon Athletics Stadium, finished with all age groups from year 7 to year 10 winning their respective competitions, resulting in a comprehensive overall team win for Dr Challoner’s for the third consecutive year. There were outstanding individual wins for M. Sperling (100m and Long Jump) for the year 7’s, J.White (100m and Long Jump), J. Hughes (400m), J. Aherne (800m), J. McCarthy (1500m), J. Wilson (Triple Jump) and A. Sandhu (1500m) for the year 8’s, J. Duchezeau (100m), H. Bugg (Triple Jump) and the relay team of Duchezeau, Bugg, A. Turney and A. Russell for the year 9’s and A. The U14 Cricket team ended a superb season by winning Bucks Cup Final against RGS last Thursday. They bowled them out for just 70 and in reply they reached their target in 7 overs thanks to Tom Butterworth and Julian Swain who both scored 22 not out. Henry Bugg has captained this team to twelve straight wins this season which is an outstanding achievement.
