The Friends of DCGS Christmas Fayre held on 4th December was a terrific success. The sports, dining and main hall were hives of activity, with adults and children enjoying the wide variety of entertainment on offer.

New this year was the Sports Zone, a bustling range of sports related activities, such as beat the goalie (featuring County Cup winning 1st XI goalkeeper Steve Harris), table tennis, golf putting and basketball. This drew a huge crowd and kept the young and young at heart busy for hours. In the hall the Giant Scalextric attracted great interest, while a diverse range of stalls did a roaring trade as people stocked up for Christmas. The hamper stall, created through the donations of parents and students, sold over 100 hampers in 3 hours! In the dining hall delicious homemade curry tingled the taste buds as people took a break from the activities.

The big moment of the afternoon was the drawing of the Grand Draw winners, and it was nice to see the top prize go to the father of a student in year 11. All in all, the Fayre was superb. It drew together many elements of the school community, and raised a grand total of over £13,000 towards the Friends fundraising target for this year.
