5th February 2013
In the last couple of months exactly 100 Challoner's students have visited Germany with the school. Firstly, before Christmas, 35 Year 10’s were given a very warm welcome to Amersham's twin town - Bensheim - not only by their exchange families, but also by the Liebfrauenschule and even the local Mayor. Amongst the highlights of the visit was going to the world famous Hockenheim Formula 1 track.
In January, 65 Year 8 students had a four day visit to a very cold Cologne. In spite of the sub-zero temperatures, they were mesmerised by the iconic sights of the Cathedral by the Rhine, especially when lit up at night. The students also had the chance to watch the local Ice Hockey team - Cologne Sharks - cement their position at the top of the league by coming from behind to win in an extremely exciting finish.
The number of Challoner's students to Germany will increase again in February as the Year 12 German class head to Berlin for their Work Experience Exchange. We wish them all the best for this challenging but rewarding visit.
