On Thursday, the famous hip-hop rapper and poet, Karl Nova, came to our school to talk to year 9 about the importance of the word ‘poetry’ and its vitality in our day-to-day lives.
After telling us a bit about himself and all the amazing achievements he has made, (like working for the premier league), Karl performed some of his most popular poems. He got the whole crowd to join in and blew our minds with the expression and flow of his performances. He even did a freestyle rap for us, where we gave him five words (xylophone being the hardest). We were a bit sceptical at first, but he managed to do it with ease and built up the energy in the room. By the time he had finished, everyone was clapping like crazy.
A big thank you to Karl for teaching us a valuable lesson about how poetry can influence our lives outside of the classroom, and thank you to the Milton Library for organising the event.
