Our Year 11 students have earned an excellent set of GCSE results, published today.
This year sees the introduction of the new 9-1 GCSE qualifications in almost all subjects. These new qualifications have increased the complexity of the content students have learnt, and posed more challenging questions in the various assessments. Students have got to grips with this new approach with aplomb, enjoying the intellectual challenge the courses have provided. The academic ambition of the cohort has been evident throughout the course, and their resilience in dealing with the new courses has been commendable.
Over three quarters of the year group achieved five or more passes at grade 7 or better, while 67% of qualifications taken were graded 7 or better and 49.3% of qualifications taken were graded 8 or 9. 35 students secured a clean sweep of grade 7 or better results across all their subjects.
Five students achieved a clean sweep of grade 9 or A* in their 10 GCSE subjects:
These GCSE results are testament to the hard work & determination of the students who took them, the diligence and preparation of the staff who taught them and the support of parents, families and friends. It is also important to remember that students have developed into young adults during this time. Their involvement in sport, music, drama, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and a myriad of other activities demonstrate that they are a rounded and interesting group, with much to contribute to society.
