16th April 2013
In the penultimate week of the Spring Term, DCGS played host to our friends from IES La Flota, Murcia. Despite a rather grey weekend, the Spanish students enjoyed the hospitality of the host families and were given an excellent insight into the different way of life in the UK.
On the Monday, we were lucky to have beautiful sunshine in which to enjoy our day trip to Cambridge. The DCGS hosts were excellent tour guides and each exchange group were asked to complete a series of activities around the city. The DCGS and Spanish students worked collaboratively with each other and exhibited the vast majority of the learning habits that are so central to Learning @ Challoner’s. It was fantastic to also be able to catch up with Old Challoner’s Tom Cunningham and Alex Baker who are studying at the University of Cambridge.
Both legs of the 2013 exchange have once again been a tremendous success. There are a record breaking number of students taking GCSE Spanish next year and we hope that the partnership will continue to grow and many current Year 8 and 9 students will want to participate next year. Look out for details at the beginning of September.
