The Sixth Form

The Sixth Form at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School aims to allow students to develop as individual learners by encouraging academic excellence and providing opportunities for leadership and the pursuit of specific interests.

Sixth form students make excellent progress during their time in the school

Most of our students study four AS Levels plus General Studies in Year 12, although some boys take five main AS subjects. The majority of students continue with four A2 courses in Year 13. The school offers a wide range of A Level subjects and this extensive choice is further widened by the opportunity to study a subject at one of our partner institutions including Amersham & Wycombe College.

Moving On

A key part of the work of the Sixth Form is to prepare students for the next stage of their life. We operate a programme of events to achieve this, ranging from a Higher Education evening to unravel the mysteries of university application to a very popular careers fair attended by nearly 100 exhibitors. Higher Education is the most popular activity for our leavers and so much of our work focuses on helping students identify the most appropriate courses and institution for them. This is done through individual discussions during tutorial time and by spending time encouraging students to think through their options as carefully and effectively as possible.
