A Leading Edge School

The School's Ethos of 'Excellence with Integrity' motivates students to perform to the best of their ability

In April 2009 , DCGS took on its third specialism and has recently been designated as a "Leading Edge" school. The Leading Edge Partnership Programme was established in 2003 to encourage schools to work in partnership to solve some of the most intractable problems in education. Its aim is to help to raise standards and transform education through a unique school-led approach.

Since 2006 the school has been a national leader in championing the ideas of "Building Learning Power" developed by Professor Guy Claxton. We believe that the learning habits developed by students are just as important as the knowledge and understanding they acquire during their time at school. Most teachers have taken part in a Learning Review and a common "language of learning" has been developed. DCGS hosted a national conference on Building Learning Power in October 2008.

The DCGS Leading Edge Partnership involves two principal partners; John Colet School in Wendover and St Bernard's Catholic School in High Wycombe. There are also several associate partners including Chesham Park Community College, Chesham High School and Dr Challoner's High School.

The partnership is working closely with The Learning Organisation (TLO) to develop the ideas of "Building Learning Power" across a range of contrasting institutions in Buckinghamshire.
