Writing: Raphael Darly (Year 7)
Karl Nova is a performance poet and rapper, who recently visited DCGS Year 7 and told his inspiring story.
Karl originally did not like poetry in any form, particularly because his father was always badgering him to read Wordsworth and Shakespeare.
Then one day a cousin played him some rap, and this really entranced him. Through the poetry aspect of rap he also finally began appreciating and liking the classics of poetry, like the works of the aforementioned Shakespeare and Wordsworth.
Karl has written a book of his own poetry called Rhythm And Poetry, which is being published next year. He also goes into schools and gives talks about poetry and encourages young people to like - and even love - it!
