Dr Challoner's has built a reputation as one of the leading boys' grammar schools in the country. Our students' results at GCSE and A Level are outstanding, placing Challoner's consistently among the top 50 state schools in Britain. Almost all our students move on to further study at university level and around 20 boys each year are offered places to continue their education at Oxford and Cambridge. The school is the holder of a large number of awards and special recognition from a range of national bodies and was one of the first OFSTED 'outstanding' schools to convert to academy status. The school is now proud to be a National Teaching School, leading an alliance of schools committed to improving the quality of teaching and leadership.

Although Dr Challoner’s is a school with an outstanding reputation for achievement, there is a lot more to DCGS than people sometimes think. We want the young men who leave us to be kind and caring, confident in what they can achieve and equipped with a keen sense of the world around them; happy in themselves and able to share an optimistic outlook with others. In order to achieve this we have created a friendly and caring environment, rich in learning opportunities, so that boys can flourish and mature into talented, modest and committed young adults.

To help them mature into well-adjusted and rounded young men, we provide many different avenues for our boys to learn and develop. They are involved in the running of the school from the outset and, by the time they reach the sixth form, they act as leaders in every field of school life and provide superb role models. Throughout their career, we see to it that their learning is deepened through educational visits and creative partnerships which extend across the globe. When they come back and see us, our alumni often tell us how well they feel the school has prepared them for the next phase in their lives. This is the true measure of our success.
